After conducting the research and schematic design phases, Studio
Tincup begins the design development process. The design development
builds upon ideas generated during schematic design. It is during
this phase that more details are explored within the design
– the materials selection, scale, proportion, constructability,
adaptability, etc. The variety of issues that might affect a
project are potentially explored during this phase. These might
include budget limitations, material availability, or additional
program element requests by clients. These are just a few examples
of issues that might be explored during design development.
These drawings contain more detailed notes regarding material
selection and design ideas. The site design and placement of
all elements is refined at this point. These drawings generally
contain colored graphics with photographic images of materials
and design examples to support and illustrate the ideas for
the project. The design development drawings are reviewed by
the client before final sign off and the beginning of construction
documents. Studio Tincup completes the design development process
for all projects.
