After conducting the research, schematic design and design development phases, Studio Tincup may begin the construction document process. The construction document phase may or may not be completed for every project. This depends on the detail needed for the project or whether or not the project will be approached from a more “design build” aspect. The construction documents are detailed drawings outlining the construction methods and all material selections. These drawings are less graphically appealing than schematic or design development drawings and provide technical information. They may contain drawings illustrating the layout and selection of plant materials, hardscape materials, furniture, lighting, irrigation, water features or other landscape elements. These drawings are helpful when obtaining pricing from a variety of contractors. They serve as a guide for the construction. These drawings are coupled with detailed notes about construction as well as any applicable city requirements.
