Cabo del Sol is located in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The
project is a 1,800 acre high-end resort community located
at the tip of the Baja Peninsula overlooking the Sea of
Cortez. The landscape architect was hired to provide a
landscape masterplan for the entire existing community.
The challenge was to incorporate existing designs into
a proposed landscape masterplan. The goal was to provide
landscape plans for primary streetscapes as well as park
open spaces and the town center. The landscape architects relied on their knowledge of desert and low-water use
plant materials as well as native hardscape materials.
The scale of each space was explored in order to provide
appropriate impact on the highway versus smaller scaled
impact along interior roadways and paths. Spectacular
views of the ocean were preserved and enhanced through
the design. This work was conducted while employed with
TBG Partners under the direction of Jim Manskey.
