The Tyler Residence #2 is a private residence located in Tyler, Texas. The residence is located along a highly traveled street and within a mature landscape. The residence is located along one of the streets featured in Tyler’s Annual Azalea and Spring Flower Trail- an event designed to highlight eight miles of Tyler’s blooming azaleas and spectacular homes. The client requested a design for her backyard, which was framed by an existing 5 foot brick wall and a densely vegetated stream. The client wanted two separate outdoor spaces – one for dining and one for reading and reflection. The landscape architect developed a plan that featured a dining space framed on all sides by planting and highlighted by a natural rock water feature. The separate patio area for reading contained less planting and was sited on the separate end of the garden for maximum privacy. The plan also included space for a chimenea at the request of the client. Each of the two patio spaces are access by flagstone stepping-stones set within grade. The planting features azaleas, mondo grass, confederate jasmine, blue fescue, crape myrtles, and japanese maples among several other selections.
This project was performed with Melton Landscape, Inc.
