The Tyler Residence #1 is a private residence located in Tyler, Texas. The residence is located within a mature neighborhood. The client wanted an outdoor deck with trellis and entertainment space as well as play space for grandchildren. The final plan locates the deck adjacent to an existing walled patio. The landscape architect proposed that modifications be made to the existing patio in order to accommodate easy access to the deck. The deck is framed with flowering shrubs, perennials and grasses. At the base of the deck is a natural rock water feature framed by flowering agapanthus. Shrub roses, holly ferns, gazania, purple heart and forsythia are a few of the plant materials present. The plan included existing shade trees as well as a space for a wooden play structure for the grandchildren.
