The Fort Worth Residence #1 is a private residence located in Fort Worth,
Texas. The residence is located southwest of downtown and sits within a
neighborhood full of mature shade trees. The challenge of the project was
to incorporate color and a variety of plant materials into a densely shaded
backyard. The landscape architect worked closely with the homeowners to
develop a design for an outdoor entertainment space that could accommodate
6 to 8 individuals at an outdoor dinner party. The ultimate design included
an outdoor sink, area for an outdoor grill, seat walls framing the patio
as well as pedestrian access to other portions of their yard. The landscape
architect paid particular attention to all existing trees on site and used
their location as the basis and structure for the design. The homeowner
also requested the inclusion of an herb garden as well as a simple water
feature adjacent to the dining space.
