The Dallas Residence #2 is a private residence located in Dallas, Texas. The residence is located on the northeast side of Dallas and within a mature neighborhood. The client wanted a small colorful garden directly outside of her newly renovated bathroom window. The challenge was to develop a striking garden within a small space that would be enjoyed from her bathroom window. The landscape architect chose to plant the area very densely with contrasting structural plants such as holly fern and wood fern with softer perennials such as hostas. We added color with columbine, shrub roses and potentilla among several other plants. We framed one side of the area with Coral Honeysuckle which provided a brilliant colorful backdrop. While the contrast of plant materials provides a striking garden, we also made sure to plan for access through the garden by using a combination of brick and flagstone pavers. This space is complimented by the existing deck patio and swimming pool.
