The Block House Creek Parks project is a series of neighborhood parks located in the Block House Creek Development in Leander, Texas. The development of Block House Creek sits on several hundred acres and is a suburban community just north of Austin. The landscape architect produced a Vision Document and Master Plan with a series of exhibits illustrating designs for park spaces and trail systems as well as an overall master plan for the development.
The purpose of the Block House Creek Parks Master Plan Document was to assemble a comprehensive document outlining a Parks and Recreation Master Plan for all open space areas in the Block House Creek Development. The Vision Document and Master Plan included the location of the following: existing parks with park layout, existing green belts/open spaces, future parks with schematic layouts, future trails, existing greenbelt access nodes, and existing primary and secondary trails. It also included the preparation of a comprehensive master plan incorporating existing parkland facilities and greenbelts with future park opportunities. These opportunities would ultimately encompass a trails signage program, connection of all parks and open spaces with a series of primary and secondary trails and a phasing diagram.
This Master Plan will guide planning of future parks and trails to better serve the community. The master plan, upon adoption by the MUD Board and area citizens, will be used as a tool in obtaining grant funding from state and federal government entities. This Vision Document can also be used throughout the course of development to serve as a guide for the MUD board and the citizens in realizing the final design of the community. This work was conducted while employed with TBG Partners under the direction of Trent Rush.
