Sugurland Cancer Center is located in Sugarland, Texas
just outside of Houston, Texas. It is located on approximately
one acre of land and is a comprehensive multidisciplinary
cancer center as well as outpatient radiation center.
The challenge was to provide a pleasing environment for
cancer patients while also staying within the budget and
schedule requirements. This was accomplished by selecting
high contrasting materials – decorative gravel contrasted
with low groundcover and informally planted grasses. The
goal was to provide a “decompression zone” as patients
entered the facility for treatment as well as providing
a pleasing environment for patients viewing the landscape
from within. This work was conducted while employed with
TBG Partners under the direction of Jim Manskey.
