The Levi Jordan Plantation is a former slave, cotton and
sugar plantation located in Brazoria County Texas. The
Levi Jordan Plantation currently consists of approximately
92 acres located near the intersection of FM 521 and FM
524, also know as Four Forks, due west of Lake Jackson.
The property includes a two-story plantation house and
extensively studied remains of slave / tenant farmer quarters,
including the thousands of artifacts that have been excavated
over the past two decades. The original plantation was
founded in 1848 and contained 2,221 acres and is currently
owned by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The challenge
of the project was to understand and uncover the complete
history of the site as well as include all interested
parties in the process. The Landscape Architect headed
a team of consultants, which included a historic architect
and civil engineer. The team produced a Discovery Report,
which highlighted the history of the site and architecture
to date. This report included an analysis of the landscape
as well as preliminary recommendations for the future
restoration and interpretation of the cultural landscape.
This work was conducted while employed with TBG Partners
under the direction of Earl Broussard.
