The Webb at LBJ Corporate Development is located in Dallas, Texas. The Webb at LBJ is a corporate office site managed by Capstar Commercial Real Estate Services. The challenge of the project was to work with the existing site and architecture and develop a landscape unique to corporate developments. The landscape architect was asked to view this project as a model for future Capstar properties. Therefore, choosing hardscape and softscape materials that were both interesting and durable was very important. During the design process a series of image boards were developed illustrating the existing conditions as well as plant and hardscape material choices. Site analysis revealed the need to change many plant materials on site to make a large impact with materials – landscape design that was in scale with the architecture and overall site layout. The landscape architect chose to make a dramatic statement with large areas of singular plant materials in curvilinear patterns winding along the entry drives and into the individual buildings on site. These “ribbons” of plant materials were filled with striking contrasts of plant and hardscape materials – from red and yellow yucca with Texas Ebony Gravel to Bald Cypress trees accented by Mexican blue beach pebbles. Other plant materials included weeping love grass, hamelin grass, silvery sunproof liriope and giant liriope among others.
