Lake Cliff Park Historic Rose Garden is located in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, Texas. This garden was originally designed in the 1940’s by the Landscape Architecture firm of Hare and Hare (Kansas City, Missouri). Hare and Hare was a notable landscape architecture firm founded around 1910 as the father son team of Sydney J. Hare and Herbert S. Hare respectively.
The original design for the garden contained over thirty-two (32) different types of roses including tea, polyantha and climbing roses. The roses were framed by interesting stone structures at each end of the garden with structures designed specifically for climbing roses. The palo pinto sandstone walkways connect the different areas of the garden with a large central water feature.
Studio Tincup worked with ArchiTexas to develop a historic landscape masterplan to restore the garden to its original appearance. Studio Tincup also produced a report that included a history of rose gardens and roses, a general history of the site, an existing conditions analysis, as well as maintenance recommendations.
