Michal G. Tincup received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Marketing from Samford University in 1991 and a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson in 1997.
During her time in Arizona she was awarded a National Council of Preservation Education internship to work with the Historic Landscape Initiative at the National Park Service in Washington, D.C. During her graduate work she served as a research assistant for the National Park Service completing Cultural Landscape Reports for three National Monuments in the Southwest. She also received a National American Society of Landscape Architects Graduate Research Award for her work on the Cuisinart Resort and Spa in the British West Indies.
After graduating from the University of Arizona she worked with the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) and the New South Wales Parks and Wildlife Department in Sydney Australia on developing the Landscape Conservation Management Plan for the “Yaralla” Estate within the Parramatta River Regional Park.
After returning to the United States she and her husband moved to Cleveland Ohio where she worked for Schmidt Copeland Parker Stevens (SCPS) primarily focusing on the design and development of summer camps across the United States. Some projects at SCPS included the Case Western Reserve University/Cleveland, Ohio, YMCA of Greater Chicago/Chicago, Illinois, Camp Fire Boys and Girls of Ohio/Cleveland, Ohio, Michigan Metro Girl Scout Council/Detroit, Michigan, YMCA of Greater Cincinnati/Cincinnati, Ohio, Lake Erie Girl Scout Council/Cleveland, Ohio, and Ohio and Erie Canal Reservation-Cleveland Metroparks/Cleveland, Ohio.
She was a landscape architect for TBG Partners since moving
to Texas in 1999. During her time at TBG she worked on a variety
of project types including historic preservation, medical, corporate,
retail and resort. Projects include the Caruth Homeplace in
Dallas, Levi Jordan Plantation in Brazoria County, Aventerra
Corporate Campus in Southlake, Cabo del Sol Resort in Mexico,
the Town of Aqaba in Jordan, Rockwall Harbor and Palmas del
Mar Resort in Puerto Rico.
She is currently serving as a volunteer for Preservation Dallas (www.preservationdallas.org), Historic Fort Worth, Inc. (www.historicfortworth.org) and the Texas Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (www.texasasla.com). She has served in the past on the planning committee for the Art of Architects Event benefiting the Dallas Architecture Foundation. She is also a member of the National Association for Olmsted Parks (www.olmsted.org), the Alliance for Historic Landscape Preservation (www.ahlp.org), The Southern Garden History Society (www.southerngardenhistory.com), The Arlington Organic Garden Club (www.aogc.org) and the Chi Omega Fraternity (www.chiomega.com).
